Frequently Asked Questions
Praxis means putting insight and theory into action—so therapy with me isn’t just about talking, it’s about meaningful change. We work collaboratively to understand your patterns, rebuild trust, and create stronger, more secure relationships.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I’m systemically trained to support relationships through communication challenges, betrayal, life transitions, and emotional or sexual disconnection—helping you feel seen, understood, and more deeply connected.
Our work is both professional and deeply human. I bring compassion, curiosity, honesty, and warmth, creating a space where you feel safe to explore, grow, and move toward the life and relationships you want and deserve.
Praxis Relationship Therapy is an intentionally designed private practice, which means your care is thoughtful and personalized—not rushed or one-size-fits-all. I take time to understand your story and tailor therapy to your unique needs.
Yes. My practice is a welcoming and inclusive space for individuals and couples of all backgrounds, identities, cultures and relationship structures. As an immigrant, and with my academic background in sociology, I have deep appreciation for cultural diversity and the unique ways of our identities, families and communities shape our experiences. I am passionate about creating a space where you feel, seen, respected, and understood without needing to explain or justify who you are. You do not have to leave parts of your identity at the door. Diversity is not just welcomed here, it is valued.
I offer in-person therapy sessions in my Swarthmore, Pennsylvania office, conveniently located near Center City Philadelphia and the Main Line with easy access by car. I also offer HIPAA compliant telehealth sessions for clients located throughout Pennsylvania.
Yes. As a former international student and graduate of Drexel University, I understand the unique academic, financial, and cultural challenges many college and graduate students face. A limited number of reduced-fee sessions may be available for students on a case-by-case basis. If you are a college or graduate student interested in working together, please mention this when you reach out.
My current private pay rates are listed for each services on Services page. If you’re an insurance holder, please visit Insurance page to verify your benefits. Payment is due at the time of service, and a credit card is required on file.

I kindly ask for at least 36 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your session. This helps protect the time set aside for you and allows me to offer the appointment to someone else in need. Late cancelations and missed appointments are charged for $100 with the exception of extended couples sessions, as insurance does not cover these costs. Please note that because extended couples sessions are reserved exclusively for you, late cancelations and missed appointments are charged the full session fee. One-time emergency excusal may be considered. 3 missed sessions in 90 days may result in removal from the practice.
Everything that is said during a therapy session is completely confidential with three exceptions:
1) If a child is in danger,
2) If you are in danger of harming yourself, or
3) If you are planning on harming another person.
If you are an insurance holder, the easiest way to schedule an appointment is through my Headway or Grow Therapy links. You can always contact me directly through email at elvan@praxisrelationshiptherapy.com,(mailto:elvan@praxisrelationshiptherapy.com) or call at (484) 367-5837. Text and call is okay during business hours. I will get back to you within 36 hours.
Yes. I offer a free 15-minute consultation call to help you decide whether working together feels right for you.
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and how I can best support you. You’ll also have space to ask questions and determine if this feels like the right fit.
Individual and couples therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes. I also provide 90 minute extended couples therapy sessions upon request. Extended sessions allow us to work more deeply and effectively.
In compliance with the No Surprise Act, I am able to provide a Good Faith Estimate, a detailed cost breakdown before starting therapy, outlining the expected cost of therapy services. This estimate is based on current information and may vary depending on the complexity of your needs. If you ever have any questions regarding my costs or services, please do not hesitate to reach out.
